Pleasures of Reading - N. Evangilina
Man can become great if he cultivates the habit of reading. It refines the character of man. He can never feel lonely while he is reading a book which he enjoys most. Man can reach great heights in life only by reading some useful books. The reading habit guides a man in every way and helps him become perfect if he aims for perfection.

Hand – in – hand with the Garden (by I.Kavinaya III B.A.English)
Woman!
You are always
compared to a rose for beauty,
to a banyan tree for strength,
to a banyan tree for strength,
Then, why are
you still weeping inside the kitchen?
Come out and
smile
Colourful garden
is waiting outside. . .
To go hand – in –
hand with the garden
Awake! Arise!
To go hand – in –
hand with the garden.
Sky is her limit (by I. Kavinaya III B.A English)
Woman is no more
weak, nor, only a sweet little dolly,
She is no more
meek, nor submissive to any dragooned folly;
Which is always
out of box.
Sports,
technology, medicine, teaching, business –
No space lift
out to think;
Her presence is
everywhere,
Everything is
within her to share.
“Frailty – thy name
is woman” had gone,
The ability to
taste anything is born;
Has become the
Nation Builder, Path Maker,
Innovator,...
Has the power
without her visit,
‘Sky is her
limit.’
A woman! Who is she? (by V.Ajitha III B.A. English)
Is she a
mindless voluptuous inferior sex?
Or is she a
‘birth machine’ to yield the next generation?
Must she be petite; cute and helpless to be
loved by a man?
History speaks
of aggressive queen ending monarchies.
Will this
aggressiveness only bring chaos to others?
Can’t an honest, strong, reliable, independent
woman sans struggle?
Does society misinterpret an image of a
woman?
Enough time has
been wasted. . .
Let’s figure out
who she is. . .
So she can get
her soul’s right. . .
What’s a woman? (by Grashiya C.V Chevalsan III B.A. English)
Woman is a
creator and protector of mankind,
A candle, which
melts for others,
A rock from
which sculptors are carved
A pen to change
unwritten laws,
A novel
harbouring variegated moods,
A pathway easy to walk on,
An interesting
company during a morning walk,
An umbrella
during a heavy rain,
A tree with
broad branches giving shade,
A creator’s soul
delivering humane individuals.

Ajitha's (III B.A. English) Sweet Memories of the Tour
We the rocking seniors
of III B.A.English,rocked the life out of all on our study tour to Thekadi(17
sep,2011).Eventhough it was a one day tour,we really enjoyed to the
core.According to us students,The tour didn’t start at the mandated time 4.30
a.m,when the tourists bus groaned with our music and dance, but it all started
even when we left our home the previous night .
We were really exited
about the whole tour. The college came alive at night with our screaming and
giggling,we didn’t even sleep awink.Ofcourse, there was a group pf snails who
slept even at that atmosphere with students going crazyand the mosquitoes
having meals. But,that didn’t bother us at all.We fooled around the campus, lay
down and gazed at the stars. We kicked. We jumped and we laughed. The day started
at 2.45a.m,unlike other mornings. We took our bath and some didn’t,compromised
us by saying that they would take their bath at “the suruli falls”.
At 4.30.p.m,two luxury
buses came to pick up us “the lady rogues” for our day out in the mountain. We
travelled for exactly 4 hours, but for us it didn’t seem so.We danced until we
wore ourselves out and on our way we visited one of our friend Amar Preethi’s
vineyard which was a pleasant experience for all of us.
Finally we reached
Suruli falls where we felt the real pleasant presence of Mother Nature. We took
our bath at the pouring pure-natured water and made our intentions clear to the
mischievious monkeys there, that our things are not for sharing and because of
the allnighter that we pulled, some of us slept on the upward journey to
Thekadi. After reaching Thekadi,we took a nature walk for a while which
Mrs.Magdalene called “Wordsworth’s walk”,we had the lunch that we brought and
shared it like a big family. We even took a boat to take a look at some rare animals
which came to the banks of the lake to quench their thirst. It was a
heartthrobbing experience for us to see wildanimals such as Hyena,Tiger and
deer.
The native monkeys had
their eyes on our ice-creams like hawk’s eye and some even tricked us by looking
petty and cute.Next we went downhill to Kumuli for shopping since it’s the
inborn nature for us young ladies to be a Shopoholic. We bought all the junks as
souvernirs for our parents and siblings. The farewell of the sun led us to the
Vaigai Dam and we spent our time watching light music fountian.
Time passed like the
wind in the monsoon and we returned to our college at 8.30.p.m and it was the
most painful moment for us.That awesome day left us with lot of sweet memories
which will remain in our hearts as a souvenir from our clollege management and
from our department teachers, the howling night began with our good night
messages remainding our class about the quiz the next day.
We
thank the staff Mrs.Delicia,Dr.Magdalene and Miss.Yamuna for taking good care
of us….
